The commanding officer of the Connecticut Fast Attack Submarine, Cmdr. Cameron Aljilani, his second in command, Lt. Cm. Patrick Cashin and the boat's commanding officer, Master Chief Sonar Technician Corey Rogers, were relieved to have lost the confidence, according to a statement from the US 7th Fleet in Japan.

The Navy did not release further details Thursday about how the command failed to prevent the accident, and officials from the 7th Fleet did not say whether the command's investigation into the accident — completed this week and awaiting final approval — would be made public.
The mysterious and expensive Seawolf-class sub is in its fifth month of deployment when it hits seamount on October 2.
After the accident, the Navy was still unable to get the boat to the surface and proceed to Guam.
While operating undetected in the shallow and mountainous waters of the South China Sea is always a challenge, experts told Navy Times this week that the concessions show top officials believe the conflict can be avoided.
