The program, the first of its kind for CTC, allows active duty Soldiers to earn their paramedic certification in less time than usual while still meeting their active duty requirements.

Carter said: "You are the first, the first thing you need to do." "That's why I'm so grateful for what we're doing here today; it's going to help our men and women in uniform improve their skills as they serve and fulfill their duties in the military."
Even after soldiers graduate, they must obtain their certification through a National Registry test to be able to practice as a paramedic.
"The Army Paramedic Articulation Program allows them to expand their knowledge so they can become better Soldiers," Carter said. "Give them skills they can use when they get out in the workforce."
Class Salutatorian and 3rd Armored Trooper, Cpl. Jewel Lewis, 215th Brigade Battalion, was happy to complete the course.

"It's an honor to graduate with this class," Lewis said. "It was 9 and a half months, but it was good. We were able to increase our medical knowledge, and I think it's a very good time for all doctors, but those who are interested in the medical profession."
Lewis and most of his classmates plan to continue their education by taking the courses offered and becoming flight medics.
With the support of government officials like Carter, Texas Central University administrators and Fort Hood leadership, classes will continue for interested soldiers.
"I predict this program will grow in popularity every year," Carter said. “I hope to see it grow and flourish. All of you in this family and the Soldiers are proud of the land you are plowing now, because it will bear much fruit in the future."
