500 Pistol Revolver - The Smith & Wesson Model 500 is a five-shot, double/single-action large caliber revolver manufactured by Smith & Wesson that fires the .500 S&W Magnum cartridge, a .50 caliber bullet.
The S&W 500 is based on Smith & Wesson's largest frame, the X-Frame, which was developed because none of S&W's existing double-action frames could withstand the muzzle energy and pressure of the .500 S&W cartridge. It is one of the most powerful production revolvers in the world today and is marketed by the manufacturer as "the most powerful pistol in the world".

There are some larger caliber revolvers, such as the Pfeifer Zeliska .600 Nitro Express Revolver, but this is a custom firearm from Austria and not widely available. The Model 500 can fire a 350 gr (22.7 g; 0.8 oz) bullet at a velocity of 1,975 feet per second (602 m/s), giving over 3,030 foot-pounds (4.1 kJ) of force and momentum produced. 13.7 newton seconds. Commercial loads are available in bullet weights from 275 gr to 700 gr. The Smith & Wesson .500 Special is a shorter cartridge that is fully compatible with this pistol.

Instead of a traditional barrel, the S&W 500 has a barrel mounted in the barrel jacket that is cocked from the front. This tension gives stability, makes the barrel cheaper to manufacture and consequently a more accurate revolver.
Locking is done with a central pin at the end of the cylinder and a ball joint in the frame.
The advanced design of the firearm helps counter the recoil felt by the shooter. These include the weight of the firearm, the use of rubber grips, the forward balance and the use of a compensator. Certain S&W Performance Center models replace the compensator with a muzzle. Jump past the .500 S&W Magnum cartridge bunny this week on Wheelgun Wednesday. For many gun owners, this is the living personification of the meme. Just a big flip that most people don't know what to do with. For the longest time, the .44 Magnum was the greatest round thanks to one of the most iconic sequences ever put to film:
I know what you're thinking: "Did he fire six shots or just five?" Well, to be honest, I lost track in all the excitement. But since it's a .44 Magnum, the world's most powerful gun to blow your mind, you have to ask yourself, "Am I lucky?" Well, are you, punks? Why 500 S&W Magnum?…

After Clint Eastwood in 1971 in "Dirty Harry" stated that the .44 Magnum was the biggest and baddest block, there was a rush to gain superiority over the cartridge! Everyone wanted to be Dirty Harry and have their own Smith & Wesson Model 29, and every ammunition manufacturer wanted to claim
. As a result, many new cartridges were invented/developed for dinosaurs and other naughty, huge ammunition things.
When all the dust finally settled and the smoke billowed from the ballistic ears, Smith & Wesson sat proudly on the metaphorical hill with the greatest cartridge around. It's been made into movies, it's reminiscent of prehistoric monster hunting, and we've probably seen too many videos online of unsuspecting people getting hit in the head because they weren't prepared for the recoil. So, we all know that the cool factor is through the roof on this bike and the revolver that Smith & Wesson makes, but where is the practicality? What for
Should you buy it instead of something significantly smaller? These are valid questions and we will give some correct answers.

He owns a 500 s&w magnum so you can shoot them now and then for whatever reason
Own if it costs around $1,000? One niche reason is that you like to hunt with a gun. Depending on which region of the United States you live in, you may be in a "gun zone" or a "gun zone," which also allows handguns. If that's the case and you can't use a rifle because of silly legal requirements, the 500 S&W Magnum round - even in a handgun platform - will give you the ballistics of a shotgun. It allows you to reach more than a rifle, in some cases to hunt white-tailed deer, wild boar and other game animals. It also delivers more foot-lbs of energy than many larger bore shotgun cartridges. All of this can equate to a more humane harvest by filling out labels and getting food for yourself and your family.
Another reason to reach for a 500 S&W Magnum revolver over a rifle or shotgun when hunting is to save weight. Many hunters carry a hunting pack with tons of other gear that weighs them down. They may seem easy to pick up individually in a store, but hunting together all day can become very taxing and terrifying. So if your hunting firearm of choice is a few pounds lighter because you chose and learned to use a revolver, that's a weight-saving bonus in your favor.
Our very own James Reeves, executive producer of TFBTV, often hikes and explores national parks with his wife and has encountered all kinds of four-legged dangerous animals, including grizzly bears. He has never had a wrestling death match (that I know of) but he is always well prepared

Scenarios. Additionally, you can also (and it's a dealer's choice) protect yourself with a sleazy 500 S&W Magnum.
We're not going to get into the debate about whether or not this is your best bet, but if you're going that route, it sure is good for defending against a grizzly bear, mountain lion, T-Rex, or similar. Perhaps only the roar of a cocked revolver will convince the cougar to find its next meal elsewhere. If not, Foot-Lbs energy is definitely there to stop the imminent threat when you reach your goal.
With these two practical applications of the 500 S&W Magnum - hunting and last defense while hiking - there are many reasons not to choose a 500 S&W Magnum that is mainly focused on you and not revenge on your friends.
I'm not here to parade anyone's parade, but basically what it all comes down to is that we all need to be good firearms owners and have safe shooting practices. If you want to shoot squirrels from a bird feeder out of your house with a 500 S&W Magnum, don't let me stop you. By all means go (and film please). As always, let us know all your thoughts in the comments below! We always appreciate your feedback.

For years, the Smith & Wesson Model 29 held the crown as the most powerful mass-produced handgun. Outside of hunting, it was popularized as the "Dirty Harry" gun used by Police Inspector Harry Callahan to clean up the streets of San Francisco. The .44 Magnum became incredibly popular and was the mainstay of the Smith & Wesson handgun line for decades. It was also the most powerful mass-produced pistol, that is, until the introduction of the .50 Action Express cartridge and the accompanying .50 caliber Desert Eagle pistol.
